Anger

"A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger." Proverbs 15:1

Sometimes it's easier to get angry about a situation than to just deal with the anger and/or the source of the anger. I used to have a really bad temper, but realized that it didn't hurt anyone but me when I got all bent out of shape over something. It's amazing how remaining calm about a situation can change things.

There are 228 verses in the Bible with the word "anger" in them. Some other verses about our anger:

"The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression." Proverbs 19:11

"Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools." Ecclesiastes 7:9

"But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth."  Colossians 3:8

The word "Angry" is found 43 times...

"An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression."  Proverbs 29:22

"Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:"   Ephesians 4:26

As you can see from just these few verses, we should be careful when we are angry. The Bible doesn't say not to get angry, but it does say "Be ye angry, and sin not". That's where we often get into trouble.
