Correction

"The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame." Proverbs 29:15

"Correct they son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul." Proverbs 29:17

"Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6

We are commanded to teach AND correct our children. (Should we fail to do this, they will surely bring us to shame.)  Doing so with love will make all the difference.

Some things I miss...

NBT

We're looking forward to helping Rural Retreat Baptist Church kick off Neighborhood Bible Time tonight! This will be the third year I haven't been a part of the activities all week (after more than 10 years) but it's still a blessing just to be close and watch and listen! It's a lot of hard work preparing and even more the actual week of NBT, but it's sooo worth it all in the end.  Looking forward to our own Bible School in July!  GOD IS GOOD!

"Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God." Mark 10:14b

Beauty Secrets

Beauty tips for everyone:

- For attractive lips, speak words of kindness.
- For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.
- For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.
- For beautiful hair, let a child run his fingers through it once a day.
- For poise, walk with the knowledge that you'll never walk alone.
- People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed and redeemed and redeemed ... never throw out anyone.
- Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you'll find one at the end of your arm.
- As you grow older, you will discover you have two hands: one for helping yourself and the other for helping others.

I need thee...

"I need thee, oh, I need thee, every hour I need Thee"

What power in remembering that we need HIM ALL the time!

REMEMBER...

There's always someone looking to fill your shoes! Watch how and where you walk!

Happy Father's Day!

Many of us are taking time today to wish our fathers a Happy Father's Day! Let's also remember our Heavenly Father and be sure to thank and honor Him today as well.

Friends...

"A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly; and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother." Psalm 18:24

Some of us are blessed with many "friends", but often we only have 1 or 2 really close friends on whom we can really depend. The others are more acquaintances instead of friends. They don't have time to help when we need it or don't truly listen when we need an ear. They're more interested in talking about themselves than listening to you. Unfortunately as we get older, we have fewer true friends too. Our lives tend to go in different directions. Some get married and have families, others don't.  It's a blessing to meet/make new friends as our lives change, but to do that we "must shew [ourselves] friendly"!

Praise the Lord HE is always with us regardless!

I will love thee, O LORD, ...

"I will love thee, O LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower."  Psalm 18:1-2.

We often forget the Lord is our strength and that if we would remember this and ask Him for deliverance from our enemies, He would oblige us. Too often, we want to do things ourselves first and only when we fail do we go to God for help.

The Eyes of the Lord

"The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good." Proverbs 15:3

What a sobering thought. Even when we are alone, the Lord is there with us seeing everything we do - good or bad. That should make us think twice before doing or saying things we shouldn't. Proverbs 25:11 "A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver."

Also remember, He knows our thoughts! If we are saved, the Holy Spirit lives within us. If He lives within us, then of course He knows what we are thinking too!

Another thought - Even when we are alone, the Lord is there with us - He's there where ever and whenever we need Him too! Hebrews 13:5 "Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee."

How's Your Faith?

Hebrews 11 talks of the faith of many great Bible figures: Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Sara, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, and Rahab are specifically named. Others are mentioned as well, including the martyrs - those that suffered and/or died for Christ. How great was the faith of those that have given their lives for the sake of Christ.

Trusting in Christ is sometimes easier said than done. Especially when there are bill collectors at your door or no food in the cupboard. But, He said He would supply our every need: "But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19
NOTE: It doesn't read "He'll supply your wants"! Sometimes it would do us good to do a reality check on what we need as opposed to what we want.

Thank you Bro Adam for the good messages today from Hebrews 11!

Praying For An Answer

How many times have we prayed and prayed to God for something and not gotten an answer as soon as we expected? Or not gotten THE answer we expected?

In Psalm 13, even King David, felt slighted because God hadn't answered his prayer. "How long wilt thou forget me, O LORD? For ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me?" Psalm13:1

We often forget God's answers to our prayers may not be what we expect and usually it's not when we expect! Sometimes HE teaches us patience the hard way!

The Foolish Woman

"A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing." Proverbs 9:13

The Webster's 1828 Dictionary lists the definition of "clamorous" as - "Speaking and repeating loud words; full of clamor; calling or demanding loudly or urgently; vociferous; noisy; bawling; loud; turbulent." Another word for it may be boisterous (loud, noisy, violent).

This woman spoken of in Proverbs 9 sits at the door of her house in the city calling to people passing by, being loud mouthed and obnoxious, saying things she ought not be saying. She's making a spectacle of herself by her behavior.

What a poor testimony to be called a "foolish woman". LORD let me not be a Foolish Woman!

Trust in the LORD

"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." Proverbs 3:5-6

Why is something so true so difficult to do? You may hear some people say "Let go and let God" but do they really do it? I know I've often thought, "well, I'll just give it to God" or "I'm not going to worry about it, God's in control" and then had sleepless nights worrying over something or wondering how I could "fix" the problem, etc.

It's only when I truly just sit down and say "Ok God, you're going to have to get me through this" or "your going to have to handle it, I can't do it without you" - AND MEAN IT - AND LISTEN, that I truly get peace and HE really does handle things!

Isn't God amazing?! Have a wonderful, BLESSED day!

Forgiveness

"Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered." Psalm 32:1

I've held anger and resentment towards someone before and it's so time consuming and life altering at times. To forgive someone of their transgressions can be very powerful - but oh to be the one forgiven! Now that's something totally different! Praise God our sins were all forgiven at one time - and long before we ever committed them! Now THAT's life altering ALL the time!!!

Have a Blessed Day!
