Precious Jewels

"As a jewel of gold in a swine's snout, so is a fair woman which is without discretion." Proverbs 11:22

Picture a big old pig with a ruby or diamond in its nose! NOT a pretty picture! That's the impression here - a beautiful woman without discretion as pretty as a pig with a "jewel of gold" in its nose. For clarification, I have listed the definitions of discretion and discreet...

Discretion:
The quality of being discreet; wise conduct and management; cautious discernment, especially as to matters of propriety and self-control;
Discreet:
Prudent; wise in avoiding errors or evil, and in selecting the best means to accomplish a purpose; circumspect; cautious; wary; not rash.

Discretion is a precious quality, especially in a Christian woman. It tends help us keep the qualities considered more "Christ-Like", such as being obedient to our husbands, not gossiping, or being modest, that the world doesn't seem to care about. These are such things that set us apart from the world, which we are supposed to be according to scripture.

"There is gold, and a multitude of rubies: but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel." Proverbs 20:15  How much better to know when to be discreet and to reap the benefits of it!!
